Combined with the item above, it can be basically impossible to die if you're willing to grind forever for recovery items. There's also a spell to protect you against getting oneshot.Healing items are really fast to use so if you're willing to put in that grind you're basically invincible as long as you don't get oneshot or hit more than once (this is not quite as true in the remake since grass was made considerably heavier, but you can still have more healing items than you'll ever need on you). BUT you can also have 99 healing grass of any kind.If you run out of healing grass you need to grind more which is a huge pain.The rate you get souls from enemies is really low and grinding is a pain.World and Character Tendency are dumb and overcomplicated ideas made dumber by how opaque they are.This all encourages players to rely on guides if they're doing anything other than just going for simple raw weapon damage, potentially spoiling themselves on future level design gimmicks and enemies.

Different areas drop different upgrade materials and the more advanced spells and miracles are obtained by killing bosses, and you also need to rescue certain NPCs to obtain more advanced spells/miracles. While you can go through the levels in any order, the "best order" is decided by what kind of build you want to make, and you're gimping yourself if you don't follow it.A lot of builds don't work until you've just about cleared the game, so you basically need to be on NG+ to enjoy playing with them.Personally I think that Dark Souls 3 is better game just because there's a bunch of stuff in Demon's that's a pain to play, like: There's not much in it that you haven't played before if you've played the other games, but it's the most polished and refined Souls game. In particular, the level design is somewhat different (sometimes better, sometimes worse), NPCs are a bit more interesting, and the bosses in Demon's Souls basically all have something unique about them to make them memorable (except 5-2).ĮDIT: Also damage types are more important, encouraging the player to use more than just one weapon throughout the whole game.ĭark Souls 3 is a "best of" album. I see where the improvements were made and where the down steps were done aka bloodborne and the vial farming. Also the beam sound effects from spells and bosses are just ear candy.Īlso I can see where FROMSOFT evolved their gameplay as I have beaten every FROMSOFT game except demons souls. I’m playing a cleric with a mace and when I hit human enemies I can hear the bones crushing. The crunches and impacts of weapons feels incredible. There are grooves and cut outs and just endless geometry in the levels.įorgot to mention the sound design. Everything has depth, nothing is a flat texture. There is so much DETAIL everywhere in the environments. And to top it off I never played the original demons souls as I never had a ps3.
